Yarmuth Statement on Trump Plan to Further Cut Discretionary Spending

Washington, D.C. – Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement in response to President Trump's request for Cabinet secretaries to cut their budgets by 5 percent:

"Now that our nation is approaching trillion-dollar annual deficits, the Trump Administration is attempting to redirect the blame from their deficit-financed tax scam to important programs that the American people rely on. Education, public health, homeland security, and other top priorities strengthen our national and economic security. It is an outrage they are under attack because of the Republicans' irresponsible tax cuts."
