Kentucky Representative John Yarmuth, Chair of the House Budget Committee, released a statement following reports of House Republicans’ proposed plan to eliminate the PAYGO rule, which requires spending increases or revenue cuts to be offset, and instead institute CutGo to allow deficit-financed tax cuts and prohibit increased spending – even if it is deficit neutral.

House Democrats elected Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) as Ranking Member of the powerful House Budget Committee for the 118th Congress, set to begin in January. Boyle was elected unanimously by caucus members and will succeed Chair John Yarmuth (KY-03) who is retiring at the end of this Congress.
