Budget Democrats Release Fact Sheets Contrasting Biden Budget with Republicans’ Extreme Schemes

Mar 22, 2023

WASHINGTON, DC —  Today, the Democratic Staff of the House Budget Committee released five fact sheets contrasting specific plans included in the Biden Budget with House Republicans' extreme agenda. While House Republicans have yet to reveal a formal budget, their legislative agendaconflicting fiscal fictions, plots to cut spending to FY22 levels — or to even more damaging levels — and their debt ceiling hostage-taking are widely known.

The first fact sheet underscores diverging priorities and values overall, and the four other factsheets highlight four main areas of contrast between Democrats' plans and Republicans': Lowering Costs for FamiliesInvesting in AmericaStrengthening Communities,  and Tax Fairness.  The fact sheets underscore the danger of Republicans' ill-considered proposals and spells out how Democrats' and Republicans' respective budget agendas would impact Americans' lives.

“While Republicans are still hiding their budget, they've floated no shortage of bad ideas — from slashing Medicaid and raising the retirement age to zeroing out child nutrition programs and raising the price of prescription drugs, every American will feel the impact of Republican cuts,” said Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee. “Meanwhile, President Biden has laid out a transparent, fiscally responsible, and pro-growth budget blueprint to improve Americans' quality of life, protect Social Security and Medicare, and continue to build our economy from the bottom up and middle out. Americans deserve to see exactly what – and who – Republicans want to put on their chopping block in exchange for more wasteful tax giveaways for billionaires and big corporations.”
