Chairman Yarmuth released a statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 916,000 in March 2021. While the unemployment rate fell to 6 percent, the unemployment rate was 9.6 percent for Black workers and 7.9 percent for Hispanic workers.
