Today, the Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling in Consumer Financial Protection Bureau v. Community Financial Services Association of America, Limited. The lower court ruling challenged the constitutionality of the funding structure for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which could have also endangered countless other programs not funded through annual appropriations, including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Today, the trustees of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds issued their annual reports on the current and projected financial status of the two programs. The report found that the combined OASDI Trust Funds will be able to pay all benefits one year later than previously estimated and the HI Trust Fund will be able to pay full benefits five years longer, driven by a stronger than expected economy.
